CanAdvice+ has been developed to support cancer patients receiving anticancer therapy at home. It is a new secure mobile health (m-health) system, which communicates patients’ symptoms to healthcare professionals along with a treatment adherence function.CanAdvice+ categorises adverse drug reactions into three levels based on their severity and delivers individualised information and advice to the patient. It also has the capacity to send alerts to the healthcare professional in case the patient is suffering from a moderate adverse event. Medication adherence is achieved through reminders for taking medicines according to a clinically pre-set plan.
CanAdvice+ guideline, side effects with triage and advice given are based on the “UKONS Oncology/Haematology – 24 hour triage – Rapid assessment and access” tool kit. The app is built based on the latest version of this tool.
This version of the app is for the pilot study “Evaluation of CanAdvice +® M-Health System to Support Breast Cancer Patients Receiving Capecitabine” conduct at Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02580396
